Este proceso se denomina Integrated Structural Assembly of Advanced Composites o ISAAC (ensamblaje estructural integrado de compuestos avanzados). El sistema ha sido creado por Electroimpact, una empresa de automatizaci\u00f3n aeroespacial de gran experiencia, con la estrecha orientaci\u00f3n de NASA Langley. ISAAC consiste en una versi\u00f3n modificada de un robot industrial KUKA est\u00e1ndar y un gran cabezal giratorio en forma de disco que se carga con hasta 16 bobinas de cinta de fibra de carbono. ISAAC utiliza cambiadores de herramientas rob\u00f3ticos ATI en el cabezal del efector final, lo que permite desmontarlo autom\u00e1ticamente y sustituirlo por otro id\u00e9ntico cargado con herramientas diferentes. Los compuestos convencionales utilizados en la producci\u00f3n actual constan de muchas capas de fibra orientadas a 0, 45 y 90 grados. ISAAC puede colocarlas siguiendo una trayectoria curva, siguiendo un patr\u00f3n espec\u00edficamente dise\u00f1ado para aumentar la resistencia y el rendimiento. Esta funci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica permite a los fabricantes aeroespaciales crear cuerpos de aviones o naves espaciales m\u00e1s resistentes.
