O JPL \u00e9 a principal entidade de pesquisa dos EUA para a explora\u00e7\u00e3o rob\u00f3tica do nosso sistema solar e gerencia a Deep Space Network da NASA, o sistema de telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es mais din\u00e2mico do planeta. Esse projeto tem uma agenda completa que inclui a busca de sinais de vida microbiana antiga, a categoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do clima e da geologia de Marte para ajudar a determinar a exist\u00eancia de condi\u00e7\u00f5es habit\u00e1veis, a recupera\u00e7\u00e3o de amostras da superf\u00edcie do planeta e, sem d\u00favida, o objetivo mais empolgante dessa miss\u00e3o, a prepara\u00e7\u00e3o para a explora\u00e7\u00e3o humana de Marte.<br><br><br>O Perseverance Rover \u00e9 um ve\u00edculo rob\u00f3tico n\u00e3o tripulado do tamanho aproximado de um carro; durante sua explora\u00e7\u00e3o, ele coletar\u00e1 e indexar\u00e1 pequenas amostras de rocha e solo em locais privilegiados. Uma vez a bordo, os tubos de amostra s\u00e3o armazenados dentro do Rover para eventual retorno \u00e0 Terra.<br><br><br>Ficou claro que o JPL precisava de um sistema automatizado para coletar e manusear o material espacial, bem como mov\u00ea-lo pelo processo de indexa\u00e7\u00e3o. Para isso, os engenheiros desenvolveram o Adaptive Caching Assembly, um aplicativo que se assemelha a uma opera\u00e7\u00e3o de coleta e coloca\u00e7\u00e3o comumente encontrada em um ch\u00e3o de f\u00e1brica. O desenvolvimento efetivo dos sistemas e componentes que atuariam na miss\u00e3o do Rover seria um grande desafio a ser superado.<br><br><br>O Subsistema de Cache de Amostras consiste no Conjunto de Cache Adaptativo, um grande bra\u00e7o rob\u00f3tico com uma furadeira e uma variedade de brocas usadas para coletar amostras de \u00e1reas designadas na superf\u00edcie de Marte. Uma vez coletadas, um pequeno bra\u00e7o rob\u00f3tico, conhecido como Sample Handling Assembly ou SHA, inspeciona e sela as amostras no laborat\u00f3rio de bordo do rover. Um sensor de for\u00e7a\/torque (F\/T) da ATI integrado ao conjunto do efetor de extremidade do SHA proporciona maior capacidade de resposta. Os sensores de for\u00e7a\/torque da ATI s\u00e3o frequentemente usados com rob\u00f4s nesses tipos de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es para permitir um maior controle do processo e fornecer verifica\u00e7\u00e3o do processo, como, por exemplo, indicar que um pino est\u00e1 inserido corretamente em uma fixa\u00e7\u00e3o.<br><br><br>Certas configura\u00e7\u00f5es de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o, como fundi\u00e7\u00f5es e refinarias, exigem considera\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais incomuns para as quais a ATI desenvolveu sensores especializados. No entanto, nada se compara \u00e0s condi\u00e7\u00f5es esperadas da miss\u00e3o Marte 2020, onde as temperaturas abaixo de zero na superf\u00edcie e o terreno acidentado s\u00e3o t\u00edpicos. Antes de aterrissar em Marte, o rover e seus subsistemas precisam sobreviver ao lan\u00e7amento inicial do foguete Atlas 5.<br><br><br>Para fornecer uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o robusta de detec\u00e7\u00e3o de for\u00e7a para o projeto Perseverance, a ATI adaptou sua tecnologia de sensor de for\u00e7a\/torque para compensar a ampla gama de condi\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais. O sensor de for\u00e7a\/torque com classifica\u00e7\u00e3o espacial da ATI apresenta um novo design que fornece redund\u00e2ncia de sinal e compensa a varia\u00e7\u00e3o de temperatura, garantindo uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o precisa de for\u00e7as e torques durante toda a miss\u00e3o. Para desenvolver e testar esses recursos inovadores, a equipe de engenharia da ATI projetou um equipamento de calibra\u00e7\u00e3o especializado e conduziu uma vigil\u00e2ncia de 24 horas dos testes do produto.<br><br><br>Componentes feitos de materiais termicamente est\u00e1veis e com baixa emiss\u00e3o de gases foram adicionados para fortalecer o sensor contra as dr\u00e1sticas flutua\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais. Esses materiais tamb\u00e9m evitam a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o cruzada de amostras durante a miss\u00e3o, o que \u00e9 uma das considera\u00e7\u00f5es mais importantes do projeto Mars 2020 Rover.<br><br><br>Ap\u00f3s anos de desenvolvimento, o t\u00e3o aguardado Mars 2020 Rover est\u00e1 totalmente montado e pronto para iniciar sua miss\u00e3o.
